Miami will host eight recruits for its Saturday, Oct. 17 game against Florida State, putting the visitors in front of a 5-0 Hurricanes team with a chance to gain recruiting ground.
The visitors are wide receiver Brysen Wright; edge rushers Asher Ghioto and Jayden Bell; safety Casey Barner; cornerback Donte Wright; defensive tackle Prince Che; and offensive tackles Antijuan Wilkes Jr. and Kweli Fielder.
Brysen Wright, a junior at Mandarin High School, has 26 catches for 579 yards and seven touchdowns in six games. Ghioto, a junior at The Bolles School, has 14 tackles for loss and seven sacks in five games, and Florida has reportedly gained momentum in his recruitment.
Miami can point Ghioto toward defensive line coach Jason Taylor and the edge rushers emerging in the Hurricanes’ program. Ghioto gives Miami a clear recruiting target to pursue in its own stadium.
01 · The Detail Beneath the HeadlineWhat Most People Are Missing
Half of the eight-player group has no reported Coral Gables visit, while Donte Wright and Kweli Fielder are already commits in different classes. Miami can use Oct. 17 to deepen four recruitments with no reported campus visit while reinforcing pledges in the 2027 and 2028 classes on the same stage.
That stage has been built across five games. Miami has outscored opponents 248-49, including a 41-13 win at Clemson on Oct. 3. Florida State reaches the Oct. 17 matchup after its Oct. 9 trip to Louisville, while Miami has an open date between Clemson and the rivalry game. The visitors therefore see a 5-0 team beginning three consecutive Saturdays against Florida State, Pittsburgh and North Carolina.
02 · The Open QuestionsQuestions to Be Answered
Can Miami reverse Florida’s momentum with Asher Ghioto?
Ghioto’s 14 tackles for loss, seven sacks and 17 quarterback hurries in five games make him the clearest head-to-head recruiting battle in the group. The Oct. 17 visit lets Miami put Jason Taylor and emerging edge rushers Marquise Lightfoot, Damon Wilson II, Armondo Blount and Herbert Scroggins III in front of him. A later reported visit or pledge will show whether that pitch changed the race.
Does Brysen Wright move closer to Miami after the Florida State game?
His 579 yards and seven touchdowns through six games give Miami a productive receiver to pursue, and his Mandarin teammate Knox Annis is already committed to the Hurricanes’ 2028 class. No report says Wright is close to a decision, so the useful tell after Oct. 17 is whether he schedules another Miami visit or eventually pledges to the Hurricanes.
