Florida’s position in four-star offensive lineman Calvin Landy’s recruitment has risen throughout the season, and his visit Saturday, Oct. 10, could push the Gators higher.
Landy is scheduled to visit Florida for its home game against South Carolina. The Gators went 4-8 in 2025 and are 4-1 through five games in 2026, with their lone loss coming at Missouri on Oct. 3.
A strong visit could put Florida in position to add a four-star offensive lineman to its future roster and turn its recruiting momentum into a commitment. Landy’s current favorite, the other schools involved and whether the visit will produce a decision are not known.
01 · The Detail Beneath the HeadlineWhat Most People Are Missing
The useful comparison is not merely 4-1 against 4-8. Florida matched its entire 2025 win total by Sept. 26, when the Ole Miss victory made the Gators 4-0. That start also looked more like the preseason expectation — No. 16 in the AP poll and No. 15 in the coaches poll — than last season’s collapse. Landy’s game-day look, however, comes one week after a 45-17 loss at Missouri, the first result to interrupt that climb.
South Carolina therefore becomes a test of the trajectory Landy has watched. It is Florida’s only home game on the listed schedule before trips to Texas on Oct. 17 and Georgia on Oct. 31. The recruiting rise developed alongside four wins; the next impression will be shaped by how Florida responds before those two road tests.
02 · The Open QuestionsQuestions to Be Answered
What version of Florida will Landy see against South Carolina?
Florida scored at least 44 points in each of its first four games, then scored 17 while allowing 45 at Missouri. The Oct. 10 game is Landy’s in-person sample at a pivot in the season, with Texas following on Oct. 17. The final score and Florida’s offensive output will show whether the visit reinforces the rise he has watched or introduces a second straight setback.
Does Florida leave the Oct. 10 visit as Landy’s leader?
Improved standing has not established that Florida is first, and Landy has not named a favorite or the competing schools. Reaching the top would turn a season-long climb into a defined position for a four-star offensive lineman. Landy naming a leader would answer it directly; a commitment would provide the stronger tell and convert the visit into a future roster addition.
